Der Tunnel der Erinnerung liegt ca. 30 km südlich von Linz in der Innenstadt von Steyr. Die Ausstellung ist in einem ehemaligen Luftschutzkeller untergebracht und erzählt die Geschichte von Steyr während der Naziherrschaft. Der Tunnel selbst wurde ab 1943 von KZ-Häftlingen erbaut und diente im Zweiten Weltkrieg als Luftschutzbunker. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Geschichte des KZ Steyr-Münichholz und das Schicksal Tausender Zwangsarbeiter in Steyr und Umgebung.

Da der Tunnel das ganze Jahr über eine Temperatur von rund 10 Grad Celsius hat, empfehlen wir den Besuchern, sich entsprechend anzuziehen.

Die Führung: wird nur für sie gebucht und ist in der Zeit von 9:00 – 15:30 Uhr, Dienstag bis Sonntag möglich.

Empfehlung:
Mit dem Eintritt in den Tunnel können Sie am selben Tag auch das nahe gelegene Museum der Arbeitswelt kostenlos besuchen.

Sie haben noch die Möglichkeit für einen Spaziergang durch die wunderschöne Altstadt in Steyr und auch das Schloss Lamberg (ohne Führung) von außen zu erkunden und im Schlossgarten verweilen.

The tunnel of remembrance is about 30 km south of Linz in the city center of Steyr. The exhibition is housed in a former air-raid shelter and tells the story of Steyr during the Nazi rule. The tunnel itself was built by concentration camp prisoners in 1943 and served as an air-raid shelter in the Second World War. The focus is on the history of the Steyr-Münichholz concentration camp and the fate of thousands of forced laborers in and around Steyr.

Since the tunnel has a temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius all year round, we recommend that visitors dress appropriately.

The tour: is booked only for you and is possible from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.

Recommendation:
On entering the tunnel on the same day, you can also visit the nearby Museum of the Working World free of charge.

You still have the opportunity to take a walk through the beautiful old town in Steyr and to explore Lamberg Castle (without a tour) from outside and linger in the castle garden.
